 IBPS PO XV Prelims Exam Structure


  • English Language: This section has 30 questions for 30 marks. You'll have 20 minutes to complete it.

  • Quantitative Aptitude: This section contains 35 questions for 35 marks. You're allotted 20 minutes.

  • Reasoning Ability: This section has 35 questions for 35 marks. You'll have 20 minutes to solve these questions.

It's important to note that there is a sectional time limit of 20 minutes for each of the three sections. A negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer is applicable. To qualify for the main exam, candidates must clear the sectional cut-offs as well as the overall cut-off score.

Reasoning Ability 🧠

This section evaluates your logical thinking and problem-solving skills. Key topics include:

  • Puzzles and Seating Arrangements: Questions based on various arrangements like circular, linear, square, and floor-based puzzles.

  • Syllogism: Drawing conclusions from given statements.

  • Inequalities: Questions on coded and direct inequalities.

  • Coding-Decoding: Deciphering codes and patterns.

  • Blood Relations & Direction Sense: Problems based on family relationships and directions.

  • Alphanumeric Series: Questions involving a series of letters, numbers, and symbols.

  • Data Sufficiency: Determining if the provided data is sufficient to answer a question.


Quantitative Aptitude 🔢

This section tests your numerical ability and mathematical skills. The primary topics are:

  • Data Interpretation (DI): Analyzing and interpreting data from various sources like bar graphs, pie charts, tables, and caselets.

  • Simplification and Approximation: Quick calculations using BODMAS and estimation.

  • Number Series: Identifying the pattern in a series of numbers (missing or wrong number).

  • Arithmetic: This includes a wide range of topics such as Profit and Loss, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Simple and Compound Interest, Mensuration, and Problems on Ages.

  • Quadratic Equations: Solving equations to find the relationship between variables.


English Language 📚

This section assesses your command of the English language. Topics to focus on are:

  • Reading Comprehension (RC): Answering questions based on a given passage, which often tests your vocabulary and inference skills.

  • Grammar: This involves Error Spotting, Sentence Correction, and Phrase Replacement to test your knowledge of grammar rules.

  • Vocabulary: Questions on Cloze Test, Fill in the Blanks, and Word Swap to check your word knowledge.

  • Para Jumbles: Arranging jumbled sentences to form a meaningful paragraph.
