IBPS PO Preliminary and mains examination pattern and detailed syllabus

Every year Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts two tier examination for the selection of Probationary officers/management trainee in public sector nationalized banks.Tier-I is preliminary followed by Tier-II mains.First step of the IBPS PO preparation is understanding exam pattern and syllabus in details.

IBPS PO Preliminary Examination Pattern

 Tier-I contains three sections.English language(30 questions),quantitative/numerical ability questions(35 questions) and reasoning(35 questions).Each question carries 1 mark each.There is 1/4 negative mark for each wrong answer.Total time of examination is 1 hour. Inorder to qualify for IBPS PO mains , candidates have to clear sectional cut-off and overall cut-off.These cut-offs depend on competition level,vacancy and difficulty level of the examination.

IBPS PO Mains Examination Pattern


IBPS CWE main examination has five sections .Reasoning(45 question),English language(35 questions),Quantitative Aptitude /numerical ability/maths (50 questions), General awareness with special reference  to banking industry(40 questions) and computer knowledge (20 questions).According to the latest syllabus of IBPS PO mains, each queston carries 1 mark each.Unlike IBPS PO Prelims ,IBPS PO/MT mains has sectional time allotments.So, you have to finish each section within the time allotted.And total time allotted is two hour twenty minutes.sectional time allotment of IBPS PO latest is given below.

IBPS PO previous year question pattern (2015 IBPS PO/MT pre and main CWE )


IBPS PO previous year (2015) question pattern.Here we are sharing pattern of questions asked in IBPS PO CWE-V 2015.After reading this ,those who have not attended any IBPS bank exams will get an idea of what type of questions you have to attend in upcoming bank exams.We have provided review of IBPS PO/MT Prelim CWE-V 2015 and IBPS PO Mains CWE-V 2015.IBPS is highly unpredictive in syllabus,but 75% of the question patterns are repeated every year.This review is for your informational purpose.Don't stick on to this pattern.We are sure that this  IBPS PO previous year question pattern will help you in your IBPS PO/MT CWE-VI 2016 preparation.

IBPS PO prelim previous year questions pattern(questions asked in cwe-v 2015)

English (30 question 30 marks)

Comprehension:10 marks
Most of the candidates agree that difficulty level of the given paragraph was high.Central theme of the paragraph was "Economic crisis in Europe". Paragraph was not lengthy,but it is difficult for an average student to read and answer the questions that followed.


Fill in the blank(sentence completion)-5marks
Questions from this section have two blanks per sentence.Sentence were related to "economics".Difficulty level was moderate.

Cloze test (Paragraph completion)-5 marks
Given paragraph was about education system.
Difficulty level :easy to moderate

Error spotting-5marks
2-3 questions were easy and others were bit confusing.

Para jumble -5Marks
Difficulty level easy to moderate.

Quantitative(35 questions 35 marks)

Data Interpretation-10 mark
2 set of data interpretation questions were asked. One set based on a line graph and other one based on a partially filled table.Line graph was easier as compared to the table.


Approximation -5 marks
Difficulty level :easy


Number series -5 marks
Four out of Five questions were simple.
Eg:1) 7 4 5 9 ? (numbers are not same as asked in exam, but pattern is similar)
     2)79 39 19 9 4 ?(This series was there as it is.).

Miscellaneous questions -9marks 

Mixture Allegation, Partnership, Profit Loss, Average, Boats-Stream, C.I and S.I, Time & Work, Age related problems etc.

Probability 

Question was of type "random ball selection".
Difficulty level was easy to moderate.


Quadratic Equation- 5 marks
Difficulty level:Easy to moderate

Reasoning(35 questions 35 marks)

Syllogism 5 marks
2 question were asked based on a single set of statements.Difficulty level : easy.

Coding decoding 5 marks
A set of codes for 4 sentences were given.5 questions followed based on that set of codes.Difficulty level:Moderate

Inequality 5 marks
Questions were direct .(There was no coded inequality )

Sitting arrangement-10 marks
Linear-Total 10 members ,two rows ,five in each row,one row facing south and other row facing north.Difficulty level:Easy to moderate.
Circular -Circular arrangement with "family relations".Difficulty level moderate to difficult.

Puzzle questions 5 mark 
Puzzle was bit time consuming as usual.(Floor type questions).Difficulty level moderate to difficult.

Miscellaneous questions 5 marks 
Difficulty level:Easy to moderate.

Quantitative-Moderate
Reasoning-Easy to moderate.
According to our analysis overall difficulty level was Moderate.



IBPS PO mains previous year questions pattern(questions asked in cwe-v 2015)

Quantitative

Quantitative section was easier than that of last year’s PO exam. There were 3 data interpretation questions. One line graph, one table and one pie chart. There were no questions from simplifications, approximation and quadratic equation. Data sufficiency questions and lot of miscellaneous questions(profit and loss, percentage, work and time etc..) were there. Over all difficulty level was moderate (In comparison with last year).

Reasoning

Reasoning section was the most difficult of five sections. Puzzles were time consuming as usual. There were three puzzles. Input output questions were confusing. Syllogism was moderate. There was no question from in equality . Statement and reason, statement and conclusion, “strengthens statement “, “weakens statement” type questions were there. Overall difficulty level of reasoning questions was “Difficult”.

English

English section was easier than expected. There were questions from Error spotting, 2 comprehension passages, fill in the blanks and sentence rearrangement .Overall difficulty level was moderate.

General awareness

There were lot of questions from current affairs. Banking awareness questions were easy. Gk questions were from country-currency, national parks etc.. Those who prepared on an average level could do 25-30 questions. Overall difficulty level was easy(In comparison with last year exam).

Computer Awareness.

Questions were from RAM,Ms office, memory (comparison of  kB,MB,GB,TB), browser, warm booting etc.. Those who have average knowledge in computer can answer 15 questions. Overall difficulty was easy.


We have reached this conclusions based on the experience shared by some of the candidates attended IBPS PO CWE-V main examination.

IBPS COMMON RECRUITMENT PROCESS FOR RECRUITMENT OF PROBATIONARY OFFICERS/ MANAGEMENT TRAINEES IN PARTICIPATING ORGANISATIONS (CWE PO/MT-VI)-APPLY ONLINE


IBPS has released official notification of IBPS PO/MT VI 2016-2017 recruitment processes.The online examination (Preliminary and Main) for the next Common Recruitment Process for selection of personnel for Probationary Officer/ Management Trainee posts in the Participating Organisations is tentatively scheduled in October / November 2016.The examination will be two tier i.e. the online examination will be held in two phases, preliminary and main. Candidates who will qualify in preliminary examination and shortlisted will have to appear for Main examination and shortlisted candidates in the main examination will subsequently be called for a Common Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organisations and co-ordinated by the Nodal Bank.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA for IBPS PO/MT -VI CWE

Candidates, intending to apply for CWE PO/MT-VI should ensure that they fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria specified by IBPS as follows.

I. Nationality / Citizenship:

A candidate must be either -
(i) a Citizen of India or
(ii) a subject of Nepal or
(iii) a subject of Bhutan or
(iv) a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

II. IBPS PO /MT RECRUITMENT CWE-VI -Age (As on 01.07.2016):

III.IBPS PO/MT CWE-VI 2016-2017 Educational Qualifications (As on 13.08.2016):

A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. The candidate must possess valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day he / she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.

IBPS PO/MT -VI CWE 2016-2017 EXAM PATTERN AND SYLLABUS

Last year(2015) onward IBPS CWEs(Common Written Examinations) are conducted in 2 phases.Phase-I is a Preliminary Examination followed by Phase-II which is the Main Examination.Those who clear preliminary will be called for Main exam.Preliminary Examination will be relatively easier compared to the Main Examination .Preliminary exam contains three sections.English Language, Quantitative and Reasoning. The Main Examination has 5 section. English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge.
